CRAB

Crab fishing is the most significant of the Alaskan commercial shellfish industries. It has been considered as one of the last great gold rushes on earth. The waters of Alaska are home to rich bounties of crabs esp the famed Alaskan crab as shown in the picture. It is a prized dish in the culinary world where US and Japanese restaurants are the primary importers. In the 80’s during the king crab boom, boat captains could regularly earn US$150k a season. The Alaskan crab fishing crashed in 1983 and picked up in the year 2001 and so on but still it commands the highest pay. Despite the high pay, it is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world.
